PTA Meeting was held on August 31, where we introduced and explained the various reforms that Las Vegas Gakuen is undertaking. Here is a summary of the meeting. A detailed document has been sent to all parents via e-mail.
Opening Cafeteria To Make LVG a Better and Stronger Community The cafeteria will be open to parents as of November (the beginning of the 2nd semester). Restructuring of Japanese Language and Culture Course / Transfer to Elementary or Jr. High Courses The minimum age for enrollment in the Japanese Language and Culture Course is 8 years old. Currently, for students in the first and second grades of elementary school, several hours of “Japanese language” classes present many difficulties, and a decrease in motivation to learn has occurred. In addition, there is sometimes an age gap within one class, which has been pointed out as a difficulty in teaching. Promotion to Elementary Course from Kindergarten Starting in the new school year, after completing Kindergarten, students will be promoted from E1 to E2 in principle. However, if a student has already reached the age of 8 years old at any stage of the promotion process, for example, due to retaking courses, the student may, if he/she wishes, be admitted (transferred) to the “Japanese Language and Culture Course” without going through E1 or E2. Re-taking Current Grade In all courses (Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle School, Japanese Language and Culture Course) and grades, if a parent/guardian (or the student him/herself) wishes to retake the current grade, and after consultation with the homeroom teacher, if it is deemed appropriate, retakes will be allowed with the approval of the Operations Committee (or vice principal and head teacher and board members). |
