| 理事長に就任し5ヶ月が過ぎました。日本にいたときは大学受験予備校を経営していたので、いつも年が明けると、生徒たちの受験と、新年度の準備が重なり、１年でもっとも忙しい時期でした。リタイアしてラスベガスに来て、それから解放されたと思っていたのですが、ラスベガス学園の理事長になり、またこの年度末の過密スケジュールに身を置くことになってしまいました。
しかし、いつも多大な犠牲を払ってご協力下さる保護者会の皆様、教職員の皆様のおかげで、やることはたくさんありますが、とても楽しく過ごすことができありがたく思います。（写真は事務局長と打ち合わせしミスを指摘されている理事長） ラスベガス学園では、日本の学校暦にそったスケジュールで動いていますので、４月が新学年開始で、３月終了。日本では、幼稚園、小学校、中学校と、それぞれ卒業式や入学式がありますから、ラスベガス学園でも同じように式典を開催します。 先々週から、幼稚園の年長組（K５クラス）では、卒園証書授与の練習が始まりました。担任のM先生とアシスタントのY先生のご指導の下、ボランティアの高校生も加わり、整列し、名前を呼ばれて指定の場所まで歩いて行き、礼をして、証書を受けとり、列に戻るという一連の動きを練習しました。さすが年長さんで、みんなとてもよくできていました。少し緊張しながら、証書を受けとる姿には感動しました。来週は、卒園式が行われる会場を使って、より本格的な練習を予定しています。 小学６年生（C6）、中学３年生（C9）、国際部最上級学年（J5）の生徒たちは、休み時間に１つの教室に集まって、合同で「仰げば尊し」の練習を進めています。過去の卒業式では「仰げば尊し」を歌っていませんでしたが、今年から取り入れることにしました。 卒業式が終わると、１週間のお休みを経て新年度開始です。もちろん、入学式・始業式があります。こちらも今から楽しみです。 現在、ラスベガス学園では、新年度入園・入学生、並びに転入生など、若干名の入学が可能です。ご関心のある方は、お早めにラスベガス学園事務局にお問い合わせ下さい。 |
It has been five months since I took over as Chairman. When I was in Japan, I ran a college entrance exam preparation school, so the end of the year was always the busiest for me, with students taking exams and preparing for the new school year. I thought I was free of that when I retired and came to Las Vegas, but I find myself back in that busy schedule at the end of the year.
However, thanks to the parents’ association, faculty and staff who always cooperate with us, I am thankful to be able to have a very enjoyable time, although there is much to do. (Photo: Myself meeting with the office manager) At Las Vegas Gakuen, we follow the Japanese school calendar, so the new school year starts in April and ends in March. In Japan, there are graduation and entrance ceremonies for kindergarten, elementary school, and junior high school, respectively, so LVG will hold the same ceremonies. The kindergarten’s senior class (K5 class) began practicing the presentation of graduation certificates. Under the guidance of their homeroom teacher, Ms. M, and her assistant, Ms. Y, and with the addition of volunteer high school students, they practiced the sequence of movements: lining up, walking to the designated spot when called by name, bowing, receiving their certificates, and returning to the line. Everyone did very well. It was very impressive to see them receive their ‘mock’ certificates while a little nervous. Next week, we plan to do this using the venue where the graduation ceremony will be held. Students in the 6th grade (Elementary 6th grade), 9th grade (Junior High 3rd Yr), and the highest grade (J5) of the International Division are gathering in one classroom during recess to jointly practice “Aogeba Totoshi” (a graduation song). We have not sung “Aogeba Toutoshi” at past graduation ceremonies at LVG, but decided to incorporate it this year. After the graduation ceremony, the new school year will begin after a short one-week break. Of course, there will be entrance and commencement ceremonies. We are looking forward to these as well. Currently, Las Vegas Gakuen has a few openings for new students, as well as transfer students.
